Halloween is just not for kids anymore. Probably never was, but when adults would talk about it, the only way it seemed like it would be OK is if they made it all about children. Fortunately those days are gone now and adults Halloween costumes are just as big in sales as the ones for kids.
What better time of year to be able to pretend to be someone else. Perhaps one of the superheroes of your youth; Spiderman, Batman or even Superman. And, naturally for costumes for ladies there are the female superheroes and even villains. There are many places online where you can buy costumes to outfit yourself as Catwoman, Batgirl and Supergirl.

And these days, being a pirate is back in vogue. Used to be those folks were the scourge of the earth and were often hanged on sight without a trial. But now that Johnny Depp has made being a pirate so much fun, entire websites filled with pirate costumes and props are springing up every day online.
The truth is, that pirates were probably not even as bloodthirsty as some of the movie villains of recent movies, especially those in the slasher genre. Just try going to a Halloween party without running into Freddy Krueger or Jason, or the entire cast of Twilight drooling blood all over the cupcakes.
Even TV commercials are spawning adults Halloween costumes. There are lots of costumes available for men and women that are so easy to wear that a caveman could do it. These are based, somewhat loosely, on the insurance ads starting the caveman but are now cut loose to travel all over the internet. Don't be surprised if there turn out to be themed Halloween parties this year where you must go dressed as a caveman or cavewoman.
Adult costumes often sport a sexy sort of theme. And sometimes you can find costumes that look like most of the costume is not there. While this may make for being popular at a party, it still is pretty cold to wander around on Halloween night only half dressed.
Mostly, though, Halloween offers us all the opportunity to get away from it all, even if it is only for a single night. We spend hours online looking at the selection of adults Halloween costumes, imagining how we will look dressed in a cape or a mermaid tail.
